Suggestions for Song Selections

Many people have asked me for suggestions on what to select for their wedding. Here are some of the more common choices from my page of Audio Clips that work very well for wedding ceremonies. You are not limited to these suggestions. Click on any title underlined in blue to hear it play, have your speakers turned on.

1- Prelude: The purpose of the Prelude music is to welcome guests as they are being seated before the ceremony. It generally begins 15-20 minutes before the ceremony start time. You are welcome to suggest the genre of music you prefer but you do not need to select the songs.

2- Opening Procession: This is the first official music heard for the wedding ceremony. Usually it includes family members being escorted down the aisle, and the clergy walking up to the front. The Groomsmen may also enter to this music.

Prelude in C, Canon in D, Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring, Trumpet Voluntary, Dignified , Processional

3- Entrance of Brides Maids, Flower Girl, Ring Bearer, etc: This music should have a slow, but flowing feel, ushering the bridesmaids and other members of the wedding party down the aisle

Prelude in C, Canon in D, Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring, Processional

4- Entrance of Bride: The bride's music should be an incredible moment, as memorable to everyone involved. Anything that strikes you as particularly beautiful or meaningful can be selected.

Here Comes the Bride, Canon in D, Trumpet Voluntary, Trumpet Tune, Wedding Song - Kenny G

5- Unity Candle/Other Special Music: This music can be played when no words are being spoken for approximately 1-2 minutes. This is a moment of quiet reflection, and the music you choose may encourage this mood.

O Perfect Love, Prelude in C, Through the Eyes of Love, All I Ask of You

6- Recessional: The pronouncement of husband and wife is followed by joyous Recessional music as the happy couple leads the way back up the aisle. The song you choose should be bright and upbeat.

Midsummer Night's Dream, Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring, Trumpet Tune, Trumpet Voluntary, Carolan's Concerto, Festival Bells

7- Postlude: The Postlude sets a pleasant atmosphere as guests are leaving, and lasts approximately 10 minutes. It is best to treat the Postlude like the Prelude and you are welcome to suggest what style of music is desired.

Please be sure to submit your Wedding Worksheet ten days prior to your ceremony.
